How thick is this lace? I would like to re-weave a few rawhide seats, and do not wish to purchase the amount I need if it will be too thin for this purpose. Thank you.
Hey J, the rawhide lace is about 1/16″ to 3/32″ thick on average.

hi – once i wet this rawhide lace, will it shrink as it dries? i'm trying to stabilize a cracked wooden tool handle (just to preserve it, the tool is out of service now), and was hoping to tightly wrap the handle with wet lacing, and then have the lacing tighten down as it dries

Would you be able to do an order of 1 inch wide cow raw hide lace instead of 1/2 inch wide? Would you be able to go more than 50 feet too like 65-70 feet?
Hey Sonny! We do not offer 1″ spools or anything more than selection already on the website here. If you want custom sized lace, the only way I can offer it to you is by offering a side of cow rawhide, which you can then cut to your liking.

Paper thin. Completely useless for any drum that requires any sort of tension. Probably fine for decorative purposes.

Hey Jackson! I’m sorry to hear the rawhide lace wasn’t to your liking. Rawhide can be tricky to work with, but first of all you need to have good quality product, and if your rawhide lace is easily tearing, you may have a bad spool we need to replace (which we’d be happy to do!). Secondly, the rawhide lace needs to be thoroughly cased, or soaked with water, before you start bending and tightening it. Lastly, once the lace is taught, you have to make sure it isn’t too tight, which is something that comes with experience like so many other things in leather craft.
